WAR Joins California RSOL Protest

Recently Congress passed and President Obama signed International Megan’s Law. The new law allows a “unique identifier” to be added to the passports of registered citizens. The alarming thing about this law is the same as the public registry. There is simply no empirical evidence supporting a need for such punitive and humiliating action. Janice Bellucci, President of CA-RSOL, filed a lawsuit in federal court in California as well as a temporary injunction to stop implementation until the lawsuit was ruled on. Injunction denied.

A motion has been filed by the government to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Janice and her organization. The hearing will commence on Wednesday, July 27th at 9:00 AM in Courtroom 3, Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton, 3rd Floor, 1301 Clay Street, Oakland, California, 94612.

We are asking our WAR families and activists to come out and help the California organization fill the courtroom during the hearing. Please note any signs made for the activity after the hearing will not be allowed in the courthouse.

At the conclusion of the hearing, which should take about an hour, a peaceful protest will take place in the plaza directly in front of the entrance to the courthouse. Janice as well as CA-RSOL members and supporters will address the crowd. Media is expected to cover the event.
