This report presents the results of an analysis examining levels of state adherence to federal
requirements set forth pursuant to the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), also
known as Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 (AWA).
The analysis was conducted as part of a broader project designed to assess the evolution of the nation’s sex offender registration and notification systems in the years since SORNA’s passage, with a specific
focus on SORNA’s impact on the sharing of sex offender information across jurisdictions, across
levels of government, and with the general public.
